Obituary for Angelina Cossetta

Angelina Cossetta (nee Sano) 90, peacefully passed away at home with her children by her side on September 18, 2020. Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Angelina was born on October 5, 1929 in Mariners Harbor.

She met her late husband of 68 years, Edward, at St. Michaels R.C. Church and was married in 1950.

Angie worked various jobs; her last position was a secretary at the Richmond County Supreme Court. She retired in 1985 and spent her leisure time caring for her family.

Angie loved to go shopping, going to restaurants, listening to music, going to shows, and taking trips to Atlantic City. She especially enjoyed having pancakes at Andrew’s Diner. She loved Halloween and giving the neighborhood kids king-size candy bars. One of her favorite moments in her life was meeting singer Jerry Vale at the St. George Theater.

Angie loved her family dearly and often used “Honey” and “Doll” as terms of endearment

Her smiles and hugs were always sincere, and she was regarded by all her knew her as being a kind, generous, and sweet soul. Her door was always open to the family and friends.

Angie played no favorites with her children and grandchildren. They were all her favorites.

Angie was pre-deceased by her late husband Edward earlier this year. She is survived by her daughters Edie Raia (Vinny) and Carleen Marino (Mark), grandchildren Nicholas and Alexa, and great-grandson Joseph. She is also survived by her sisters, Anne Cumberton and Mary Colon, her brother Ralph and Salvatore Sano, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, September 21st from 4pm-8pm. A mass will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd at St. Charles R.C. Church with a burial following at Moravian Cemetery.
