Obituary

Obituary for Joseph F. Barra

Joseph "Joe" Barra, 76, passed away on Saturday, May 16th due to a sudden illness surrounded by his two children at Hackensack Meridian Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ.

Joe Barra was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY , and had lived in Staten Island, NY and Saddle River, NJ before coming to Point Pleasant Beach, NJ in 2001.

Joe was a loving husband, father, son, uncle, brother, grandfather and dear friend to everyone. He was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Sadie Barra; husband of the late Elaine (Giombarrese) Barra; father to son Jason Barra, daughter Marisa (Barra) Zora, son-in-law Nick Zora, sister Maryann Pontone, brother-in-law Andrew Pontone, late brother Nicky Barra, sister-in-law Carol (Giombarrese) Colao, brother-in-law Ben Colao, late father-in-law Manny Giombarrese, and late mother-in-law Adeline Giombarrese.

He will be greatly missed by his three granddaughters who put the sparkle in his eye: Elayna Barra (16), Leana Barra (14), Madelyn Zora (4), and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Joe Barra (as most people referred to him with his first and last name) loved being with his family and friends. Over the years, weekends were constantly filled with family parties, BBQs, dinners out, and get-togethers at the infamous "Elaine's Boat." You could often find him at Frankie's Bar in Point Pleasant where he would watch his favorite sports with some of his good friends while enjoying some cocktails.

Joe Barra also enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, and busting chops. He will be remembered as a loving family man, a great boss & partner, and a dear friend. He will also be remembered for his generosity, his kind words, and his infectious personality.

Joe Barra will be greatly missed by many people but most of all, he will be missed by his children.

We love and will miss our father, but we are happy that he is reunited with our mom again in heaven. Her 19 years of peace have come to an end. Joe Barra is about to enter heaven and it'll never be the same but we know she was there to greet him with open arms.

For those not able to visit at this time we truly understand. A memorial service will be set up to celebrate his life at a future date to be determined.

OVER THERE
Come and see, pointing excitedly with expressions of jubilee!
OVER THERE
Just through that gate something waits.
It's not far, come you will see.
OVER THERE
Follow me said, with glee!
Its great! Beyond chariots wait!
OVER THERE
There's sounds of wings and pretty things,
don't worry it doesn't cost a thing.
OVER THERE
The soft light sings come with me OVER THERE
Love Vinny and Euteva
