Obituary

Obituary for Richard Castagna

Richard (Richie) Castagna passed away on Thursday June 4, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Jean, his children, Jennifer, Richard and Michael and his grandchildren Christian and Andrea. He was the loving brother of Vivian (deceased), Maryanne (deceased), Carl (deceased), John, Paulette and Michele.

When he wasn’t spending time with his wife and family, he could be found watching the horseraces at OTB and playing cards with his friends. Most days he would greet you with a story of the horse that should have won or the argument at last nights card game. He grew up in Red Hook, Brooklyn and remained a die-hard Dodgers and Rams fan.

Richie was very generous with everyone around him and did whatever he could to help people. As one of his friends said, ”Richie was a man’s man.” He was kind, generous, loving, hard working and strong. His grandchildren will always remember their poppa asking them, ”Whose strong?” and the only answer was “Poppa’s strong”. He also loved taking care of his granddogs, Pacino, Romeo, DeNiro and Harley. He also loved to tell jokes and startle people with his fake cockroaches and rats.

Before he retired, Richie had his own printing company where he worked with his brother Johnny for 25 years. They were very close and had endless stories about their misadventures and mayhem. Richie really was one of a kind and we were all lucky to have him in our lives. He will never be forgotten.
