Obituary

Obituary for Rose Mannino

Loving wife, mother, and grandmother Rose Mannino passed away on January 3, 2020. She was 89 years old.

The native Staten Islander and lifelong New Brighton resident was a retired seamstress who designed and created custom wedding gowns, working for shops including the world-renowned Kleinfeld Bridal, Garber’s Department Store, and Manor Tailoring. In her retirement, she crafted gowns, costumes, dresses, custom drapery, and handmade keepsakes for her loved ones.

Rose was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with family and marking every special occasion with a delicious home-cooked meal. A meticulous homemaker, her warm, welcoming home was a great point of pride and the backdrop for many special family memories.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas, and her children Florence (John), Angela, Roseann (Demetrius), Lauren (Ken), and Thomas (Sue). She was the beloved grandmother of 8 grandchildren, Tara, Erika (Ahmad), Kenny (Megan), Alyssa (Chris), Johanna (Chris), Dean, Katie, and Thomas, and 8 great-grandchildren, Frank, Giovanna, Cameron, Xavier, Benjamin, Oliver, Penelope, and Nathan.

The family will receive visitors at Colonial Funeral Home, 2819 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY, on Monday, January 6, 2020, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Assumption St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 15 Webster Ave., Staten Island, NY, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. Burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, 52 Tyler Ave., Staten Island, NY.
