Obituary for Rose Pennacchio

Rose (Reres) Pennacchio, 89, died at home on March 16, 2020. She was born on October 8, 1930 in Sicily, Italy. She was the daughter of the late John and Giovanna Reres. Her husband of 63 years, Salvatore, predeceased her on August 17, 2019.

She came to the United States at 8 years old, living in Manhattan before her family moved to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and then to Staten Island for the past 17 years. She also enjoyed spending time at their part time house at the Hideout in Lake Ariel, PA.

Rose had been a secretary before raising her family and later worked for the New York Board of Education. She enjoyed spending time with her family , especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and gladly opened her doors to all. You never went home hungry after visiting.

Rose is survived by her daughters: Francine Devine of Lake Ariel, PA, Joanne Bellone and husband, Tony, of West Hills, CA and Grace Como and husband, Sal , of Annadale, Staten Island.

She was also the grandmother of nine grandchildren: Joseph Devine, Jr., John Bellone, Steven Devine, Andrea Fair, Christina Keating, Grace Bellone, Vincent Como, Jenna Como and Nicholas Como. She was great-grandmother to Riley and Oliver Keating, Lee, Chloe and Serena Devine, Lucas Fair and anticipated arrival of a new great granddaughter in May.

Rose was predeceased by her son-in-law, Joseph Devine, Sr., sister, Dora Napoli and brother, Thomas Reres.
