Obituary for Rosemary Trivisonno

Rosemary “Sue” Trivisonno passed away on April 11, 2020. She was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Cesaro and Elizabeth Castellaneta and has been a resident of Staten Island, NY since 1967.

Sue received her BA in Music from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and a Master's in Music Education from Columbia University, Teachers College in NY.

Sue’s passion was teaching and began her career at SI Academy in Music Education and the JCC Music Institute. While a homemaker and raising her children, she was a private piano teacher. She later became the Music Instructor at IS 72 before teaching 4th grade at PS 36 for two decades.

Sue was an accomplished pianist and a 3 time grant recipient from the SI Council on the Arts. Additionally, she was the Musical Director and accompanist for various productions with the St. Johns University Stagers Society, Seaview Playwrights Children’s Theater, SI Shakespearean Society and other musicals at Monsignor Farrell and Saint Joseph by the Sea HS and volunteered for many years as the pianist for school performances at PS 23 & PS 36. Sue was also a dedicated member, former President, soloist and accompanist for the Saint Cecilia Music Group and continued to perform with them throughout her life.

She was an avid NY Mets fan, loved camping and cruising with her husband. Her favorite past times included reading, creating needlepoint crafts for the family and playing ball with the family’s late dog Rudi. She was an active member of the Lighthouse Hill Civic Association.

Sue is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Joseph P. Trivisonno and leaves behind 3 cherished children and 8 grandchildren: Joseph T. Trivisonno, his wife Donna and their children Jason, Ryan and Kevin; Cherylan Davies, her husband Robert and their children Christopher and Daniel; Debralyn Moller, her husband Thomas and their children Megan, Joseph and Michael. She was the dear sister to the late Diane Raptoulis.

In light of the current health crisis, the family hopes you will join us for a memorial celebration of Sue’s life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saint Cecilia Music Group c/o Joseph P. Trivisonno. This is a group dedicated to preserving quality music through performances.

I am so saddened by your loss and so sorry my family couldn’t be with you during this difficult time. I will continue to pray for Mrs. T and remember her fondly when I hear beautiful music played on the piano. Thinking about you all and hoping your memories of her bring more smiles than tears.
