Eulogy for Daddy October 8, 2020, Thursday 5 to 9 pm Colonial Funeral Home Staten Island, NY 10306

Good evening everyone! On behalf of our family here in the US and the Philippines, we would like to thank you all for coming tonight to pay respect to Tomas. He was a loving husband to our mom, a strict but caring father to me and my siblings and a very proud grandfather to his four grandsons.
My dad was one of 7 siblings. He grew up along the street in Manila. He was a quiet person, he can sometimes be misunderstood to be a snub. But according to my older cousins who essentially grew up with him, his far from quiet when you get to know him better. He lights up the room with his jokes and tells funny stories and makes funny voices too according to them.
He got his first job around 1966 as an executive assistant to a congressman, my dad was tasked to write speeches for him. He was based in government office, this is the palace in the Philippines, the equivalent of the WH here in the states.
My parents met around 1966 and got married 3 years later. Our father loved our mother dearly, they adore each other in their own little sometimes argumentative way (hahaha). One best of the best trait or skill that our mom is so proud of our dad is his cooking. He was a very good cook. Sour soup beef. Fried pork in vinegar and water, grilled catfish and milkfish. You give him any meat or fish, he'll find a way to deliciously and sumptuously cook them for you.
I'm the oldest of three boys. My dad was a disciplinarian. Rightly so, we're all boys who are just a few years apart. So you could just imagine. He always wanted us to be exceptional in our studies and be all the best that we can ever be in life. I fondly remember, in grade school, dad bringing us to and from school making sure our clothes are well pressed with hanky in our short pockets.
As we got older, he always reminded us to find good in any situation we're in at all times. And whatever predicament we are facing, always use it as an opportunity to better ourselves.
Your grandchildren love you so much Lolo Tom. They are very grateful and thankful that you have been a significant and important part of their young lives. Big help that you are there always waiting for your grandsons Matthew and Andrew from school when they were younger. And you still find time to talk to your grandsons in Philippines, Jaiden at Johann.
You will be sorely missed Lolo Tom. We love you and we thank you so much for everything. May your soul rest in eternal peace with our Almighty Father in heaven. Amen.

Tito Tom... I was looking forward to seeing you again as well as Tita Gina but time forbid us... I am really saddened by the news... You called me on my 50th birthday.. It was a long talk... The same voice... You are the last link that i have that reminds me of my daddy as his brother... Rest assured that you will always be included in my prayers....

We are saddened that you are no more with us. It is often hard to find words to express our feelings when our closest departs forever. All we can remember is your laughter, your happy and positive thoughts, your jokes and most specially your goodness to us. The beautiful moments you shared with us will always speak of how a great person you were, a very caring and responsible father to your sons and a loving husband to Auntie Gina. You will be missed forever and always.. There are no goodbyes, wherever you’ll be, you’ll be in our hearts.
Rest in peace Tito Tommy, send our hugs and kisses to Mommy Genie and Daddy Tinoy. May the perpetual light of God shine upon your soul.
We love you Tito Tommy !
